“a playful and often passionate study in human connection and control, featuring vibrant colors and a seemingly endless supply of Post-it notes.”

First Fruit was the culmination of Rosie Herrera’s creative residency with New Dialect, which took place January 13 - February 6, 2020.
The explosively colorful work was built upon Rosie’s five years of research into, as she says on her website, “the relationship between religious iconography and romance.
Choreographed in 2020 and set to the music of Juan Gabriel, Buika, Frank Sinatra and more, First Fruit explores the indelible ways that we are shaped by all we have loved and lost and how fiercely we hold onto what we believe.”
First Fruit was created as a culmination of research begun at New Dialect's Winter Intensive, where Rosie lead a week long dance theater workshop entitled “Brutal Elegance.”
While in Nashville she also Taught a master class at Centennial Performing Arts Studios and led a dance theater workshop for children at the Hispanic Family Foundation’s Baila Dance Studio.
First Fruit premiered at OZ Arts Nashville in a double bill alongside Banning Bouldin’s The Triangle on February 20-23, 2020.
